James 1:5-8

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. About Dale Ralph Davis:

D. Ralph Davis, Ph.D. (1944-) was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania, the youngest of five sons in a Presbyterian manse. Graduated from Sterling College, Dubuque Seminary and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, he earned his Ph.D. at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored several small churches and taught at Belhaven College and Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) before accepting Aisquith's call in 1988. Dr. Davis is known around the world as an "Old Testament guy," and although his deep insight into the Old Testament is undeniable, many of his Aisquith sermons had a New Testament text. Infused with his irrepressible wit, the sermons are down-to-earth, timely and a real treasure. They are online here with his permission. Under the pen name Dale Ralph Davis, Dr. Davis has (so far) authored 8 commentaries, mostly on the Old Testament. One reviewer described his books this way: "Go and buy everything he has written on the Old Testament." In 1994 he felt called to return to RTS where he spent several years before assuming the pastorate at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, MS.
