Start Saving those shoe boxes! We will collect shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child here at Aisquith. Click HERE for how to pack a shoe box. If you have a shoe box, decorate it with Christmas paper and fill it with goodies and gifts. If you have an extra shoe box at home, bring it in to the Primary room at Aisquith so someone else may use it if you aren’t going to fill it yourself. There will be boxes by the north and south entrances to the sanctuary.

The dates to return your boxes are November 13th or November 20th. Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make one combined donation.

Linda Karner, MTW Missionary to Japan and also one of the missionaries supported by Aisquith, has a desire to send 500 craft kits to the Japanese shelters housing thousands of Japanese victims of the recent tsunami. The kits feature a Japanese braiding project and are for the purpose of giving the people something fun to do.

The WIC Council has decided to help Linda with this project by collecting the materials for these kits and assembling the kits. Each kit includes a cardboard loom and 3 skeins of embroidery floss. You can help with this project by donating the following:

● Empty cardboard cereal, cracker, cookie, etc. boxes (Please do not add any additional folds.)
● Skeins of embroidery floss (all colors)
● Plastic zip quart size bags.

You may place these items in the box in the narthex marked “WIC”.

When we have collected enough materials, we will announce a date and time to assemble the kits. Lunch will not be provided, so bring your own bag lunch.

If you have any questions, contact Janet Johnson at janet@aisquith.org

Ladies 13 and older: spend a day with Linda Boice as she acquaints us with some Biblical women who experienced much in their lives that was not easy, but whom the Lord encouraged and used for His good purposes.

Linda Boice grew up in New Jersey, studied at the University of PA, Harvard Graduate School of Education and Princeton Seminary. She is the widow of James Montgomery Boice. Together with her husband, Linda founded City Center Academy where she taught English until retiring in 2007. Linda has three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Cost is $20, which includes a Continental Breakfast and hot lunch. The WIC Council encourages Aisquith members and friends to register early. If space is available after September 11th, registration will be available to sister PCA churches. Due to expenses involved, there can be no refunds after October 16th. To register early, fill out the bulletin insert and and place it, along with a check or cash, in one of the pink envelopes, marked, “WIC Retreat” or contact Janet Johnson at janet@aisquith.org.

Everyone is invited to a modified covered-dish lunch and a viewing of the 2011 WIC Love Gift video. Deli platters will be provided – you just need to bring a side-dish or a dessert.

This year’s Love Gift is for Covenant Theological Seminary. Monies collected will enable the seminary to revitalize Rayburn Chapel with a family care room, improved balcony seating, and technological enhancements. It will also be used to increase seating, improve student life facilities and to create a special event-ready site in Edwards Community Center.

Both Pastors Bell and Ceselsky attended Covenant Seminary and will briefly share with us the impact Covenant had on their lives.

Please let us know if you will attend by completing the form in the Sunday bulletin, or by sending an email to Janet Johnson: janet@aisquith.org.

What is IMPACT? The IMPACT Program of Aisquith Presbyterian Church exists for the glory of God as his people are Sent, Serve, and Seek.

As God calls members of His Church here at Aisquith to be a part of an IMPACT Team, so He prepares, and He sends in conjunction with the Session and congregation. We are sent as just one tangible application of the Great Commission given to us by our Lord Jesus – “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The IMPACT team is sent with the specific purpose of serving – serving Christ, his missionaries, and those in spiritual (and physical) need in the community to which we are sent. We serve Christ preeminently in all that we do – interaction with locals, visitation, work projects, worship and devotional times. We serve the missionaries which we support financially by adding hands and feet to their labors within the community to which we are sent. Additionally, we serve those in need within that particular community as we seek to meet their real and felt needs.

As a team member is sent and serves, so we pray, that if it would be the will of our Heavenly Father, team members would seek his will for their lives – perhaps sensing the calling of God to continue in ministry with a particular people or community to serve themselves as a missionary.

Bert Williams will be giving us an update on what is happening in South Africa, as well as answer questions.

The luncheon is pot luck, and will be held in Room 11.

We are asking you to bring a salad, a vegetable, or a dessert. There will also be a need for helpers for set-up or clean-up. Use the bulletin tear-off or contact the church office to let us know if you can attend or if you would like to help.
