Internet woes

0

Sorry for the posting delays, we were without internet while at Camichines.  We had tried to email it over to someone to post but somehow it got lost.  So here is the lost post (now with images).

Tuesday:

We started the day at Bugambilias, where we packed up our things and traveled an hour away to Camichines.  About 10 minutes before getting to our destination we passed a truck stuck in the mud on the side of the road.  Pastor Larry pulled over and called all the guys to help push, and with
a few rocks of the truck he was free, and John’s pants were covered in smelly mud.  Once at the house we quickly moved our luggage and then got to work.  Our projects ranged from sifting dirt, painting a bathroom, general yard cleanup, bike repair, and rock/boulder removal.
Later in the day we stared to mix cement to put on the floor of the Steve and Joanne Hohemberger’s house…..the third floor of their house that is.  At least we had great weather and a gas cement mixer on site.  A vast line was formed with pulleys and ladders so that the cement could get moved from the ground level to the third floor.  We were able to finish everything off with no problems in time for dinner.  Chuy and his son TJ cooked us up some really nice meat on the grill while the Lord provided us with a good breeze and nice rain.

Wednesday:

Wednesday stared off just like Tuesday ended.  A line of people moved bricks and mortar up to the third floor so that a wall could be built on the edge of the floor (I’ll just mention that these building bricks were the size of four normal bricks laid side by side).  Ken, Larry, and Natalia continued to work on bike repairs for all the children, with about 3 or 4 fixed yesterday.  Julie and Ilene helped out in the kitchen with Joanne and Amy prepping food, squeezing oranges, and washing large piles of dirty dishes.  Before lunch a delivery of 3500 tiles had us passing stacks of 6 tiles up by hand to the third floor until the truck had been fully emptied.  The hope is that by the end of the week we will be putting the tiles down on the roof as the base of the floor.

Thank you to everyone who is praying for us.  We are hoping the Lord continues to protect us and bless us with great weather.

Sunday Fun

Hello all.  For those of you who didnt guess already, we made it to Guadalajara safely luggage and all.  There was only one small flight delay and minor flight sickness, but other then that the Lord blessed our travels.  We got to the Church around 10, had a quick bite to eat (sandwiches and quesadias), and hit the sack.

Sunday morning we got to enjoy the preaching of Pastor Larry Trotter as he talked about Truth ( first in english and then later in spanish).  After Church we were able to catch up with old friends from previous years, and make some new ones as well.  We spent the afternoon at the Trotte’rs house for our customary cookout……and race.  For all those who bet against AJ and thought that John would win, you were WRONG.  AJ beat out John in about a 60m dash.  It was neck and neck until the end and AJ edged out John for the win.  After that we spent time with the Acosta family who joined us at the cookout.  Their family consists of Chuy and Amy, their 4 children, and about 10-12 foster children.  We will be working at their house Monday through Thursday, and staying with them Tuesday night through Thursday morning.  We are expecting the space to be limited, the bathrooms to be sparce, and the work to be plentiful.

So those who are led to pray, pray that we will be patient with one another and safe as we work.

We are unsure on having an internet connection while out in Camichines, so I will post as connection permits.  Ill leave you with some pictures of today.

The IMPACT Team Leaves on Saturday, July 16th

Jet Plane

**The IMPACT Team arrived safely in Guadalajara at 11:05 pm.**

Keep an eye on this page, on IMPACT’s FaceBook page‘, and on the front page of aisquith.org for an announcement of their safe arrival.  We will also post pictures, prayer requests, and updates from the mission field, as they come in.

What is IMPACT? The IMPACT Program of Aisquith Presbyterian Church exists for the glory of God as his people are Sent, Serve, and Seek.

As God calls members of His Church here at Aisquith to be a part of an IMPACT Team, so He prepares, and He sends in conjunction with the Session and congregation. We are sent as just one tangible application of the Great Commission given to us by our Lord Jesus – “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The IMPACT team is sent with the specific purpose of serving – serving Christ, his missionaries, and those in spiritual (and physical) need in the community to which we are sent. We serve Christ preeminently in all that we do – interaction with locals, visitation, work projects, worship and devotional times. We serve the missionaries which we support financially by adding hands and feet to their labors within the community to which we are sent. Additionally, we serve those in need within that particular community as we seek to meet their real and felt needs.

As a team member is sent and serves, so we pray, that if it would be the will of our Heavenly Father, team members would seek his will for their lives – perhaps sensing the calling of God to continue in ministry with a particular people or community to serve themselves as a missionary.
